Jossi Interior Design undertook to design
a large feature wall which doubled as a TV unit in this
gorgeous Umhlanga apartment.
As well as being involved to some extent in the selection
of the finishes within the general apartment, Jossi’s
attention was focused on solving the problem of concealing
the structural columns in the open plan space, while
creating a contemporary wall unit that also served the
purpose of housing a large plasma tv behind a sliding
door.
This was achieved using a strong grained timber which
was washed to give it a whiter look while not concealing
the natural grain of the wood. The use of sandblasted
glass creates a play on the positive and negative space,
and lightened the otherwise large wall unit.
The concrete slab is suspended between the two structural
columns, with the one column cladded within the timber
unit.
The sliding door houses the Plasma TV and beneath the
floating slab are drawers to house the various units
and entertainment equipment. |
